Whether it's an aviation adventure, a lesson learned, a flying tip, a fun fact, or just a beautiful picture you took during one of your flights, we would be happy to consider sharing it with the rest of the aviation community. Just send it to us via the form below, and make sure to read the guidelines section if you have any questions.
No previous experience is required to write articles for Aviation Things, just someone who has a good story to tell and with an honest, knowledgeable voice in aviation.
We are always looking for ways to provide our online community with stories that make them better pilots, entertain them, inform them, and, yes, sometimes even nourish their souls.
The typical length of a story is 600 to 1200 words, but we are willing to go a bit shorter or longer.
Author-supplied photos are a huge plus but not a necessity.
The list of what we don’t want is short. We won't publish poetry, fiction, book reviews, thinly-disguised advertising, or preachy/teachy
Remember that you are writing to people just like you. It's about one pilot sharing a story with another. Our style is conversational and casual, so that’s why we avoid academic papers and Shakespearean writing on Aviation Things
• Your story must be in a Google document. You can send us the link via the form above of directly at editor[at]aviationthings.co;
• Make sure your story has a title and that you include your full name;
• Check your text for grammar and spelling before submitting;
• That goes without saying, but do not include political or religious points of view in your story;
• You can submit a story that has already been published elsewhere if you can prove you own the rights to the story.
If your photo has already been posted on Instagram, just send us the post link via the form above under "Additional Image link". Otherwise you can upload the photo to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and send us the link.
Please avoid low-resolution and bad quality images as those will not be used on the website.
If you are looking for a paid position, unfortunately we can't offer you that. Our goal here is to share great aviation content and have fun in the process. So to be clear, this is a non-paid position. Yes, we actually do it for love.
We certainly wouldn't and couldn't exist without that volunteer effort, and we are very grateful for it.
If you still have a question regarding how to submit your story, feel free to reach out to our editorial team at editor[at]aviationthings.co.
